Labor unions continue to approve deal

One by one, city labor unions are quickly ratifying an agreement that will save thousands of jobs and millions of dollars next fiscal year.

So far, 27 locals have ratified the agreement made between Mayor Gavin Newsom’s office and the Public Employees Committee last month. The deal includes 12 furlough days and a cap on layoffs at 425.

The deal is expected to save $200 million over the next two years.
