LA police make arrest in shooting; schools reopen

Los Angeles police have arrested a person for investigation of a San Fernando Valley street shooting, and two local schools that were locked down have reopened.

Police say a man was shot and wounded shortly after 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Panorama City area.

Students at nearby Vista Middle School and Noble Avenue Elementary were confined to classrooms while police searched for the attacker.

Police spokesman Richard French says a man was seen running in the direction of the schools. The area was cordoned off and searched for about two hours before a man was taken into custody and the schools were allowed to reopen.

The suspect's name and details of the shooting haven't been released.
