Kudos: Chabot Space & Science Center to host big anniversary bash

In honor of Chabot Space & Science Center’s 125th anniversary, OneCalifornia Bank has partnered with Chabot and has provided $25,000 to support the center’s mission of educating students of all ages about Earth and the universe.

In 1883, hydraulic engineer Anthony Chabot donated a telescope to the residents of Oakland; it’s in use today, still accessible to the public, free of charge, as was Chabot’s wish.

Headquartered in Oakland, OneCalifornia Bank seeks to improve economic opportunity for low- to moderate-income communities.

Chabot Space & Science Center will hold its annual gala beginning with a 6 p.m. reception Sept. 13, and progamming — including games, interactive activities and telescope use — running through 11 p.m.

Guests are requested to R.S.V.P. by Sept. 8. The center is located at 10000 Skyline Blvd. off Highway 13 in the Oakland hills. For more information, call (510) 336-7300 or visit www.chabotspace.org.
