Kiwi contingent fighting for trip to San Francisco

A trio of New Zealand politicians have apparently been invited to San Francisco by Mayor Ed Lee and former Mayor Art Agnos to learn how to recover from a massive earthquake.

A devastating 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit Christchurch, New Zealand, in February killing 166 people. The city has been rebuilding ever since and three city councilors were planning to spend a $4,000 training fund on a trip to San Francisco.

But apparently the fiscally minded citizens of Christchurch have questioned the motives of three councilors. After all, a springtime trip to San Francisco doesn’t seem like a whole lot of work, and apparently another councilor spent the training fund on a trip to San Diego last year to look at a sandcastle competition.

We’ll know soon whether the Kiwi contingent’s trip is approved.
