Kite surfer's car burglarized near Half Moon Bay

A man’s car was burglarized while he kite-surfed off the shores of Half Moon Bay on Tuesday, after the burglar apparently watched him hide his keys, authorities said.

In a crime sheriff’s deputies say happens all too often along the coast, the kite surfer lost his wallet, which had $50 in cash and credit cards, when he left his car unattended about 2:20 p.m. on state Highway 1 near Johnson Pier.

Law enforcement officials say crooks are known to watch where surfers and swimmers hide their keys.
