Kid Rock set to launch nationwide charity tour

Unemployment may be at an all-time high across the country. But Michigan philanthropist Kid Rock is doing his good-hearted damnedest to chip away at those numbers.

He’s launched his own beer, started his own clothing company called Made In Detroit, and is now upping the ante with a new national tour that will donate to charitable causes in every city it hits.

To do this, the hip-hopper assembled a team of Detroit titans, both business and individual, including Compuware Corporation, The Suburban Collection, Quicken Loans Inc., Fathead, The Detroit Pistons, Danialle and Peter Karmanos Jr., Holly and Tim Gores, and Catherine and Nathan Forbes.



All funds will be funneled through the Kid Rock Foundation, with local radio stations along the way helping to determine the appropriate charities.

It all coincides with his new T.I./Martina McBride-assisted new single “Care” from his recent “Born Free” country-rock experiment.

“The song says ‘The least I can do is care,’ and I wanted to put my money where my mouth is,” he explains. “Everyone knows Detroit is suffering. At the end of the day, we’re all Detroit, we’re one country, one family.”

Pre-sale tickets go on sale for fan club members at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at www.kidrock.com, with the nearest California date Dec. 9 at Indio’s Fantasy Springs Special Events Center.
