Kathy Griffin exits 'Fashion Police'

Didn’t Kathy Griffin watch “Fashion Police” before she took the job as host?

Known for celebrity barbs, the comic — who announced she was leaving the E! series after just seven episodes — likened the show to “a dog pile” and said the canned jokes that worked well for mentor Joan Rivers didn’t work for her.

In an appearance Monday on “The View,” she said, “As a feminist and a comic, it just didn’t feel like the right fit to me.”

She admitted, “Certainly in my repertoire I’ve said heinous things, I’m well aware of that,” yet added, “[But] I wouldn’t hold up a picture of Kim Kardashian and say, ‘She’s ugly! Goodnight!’ I wouldn’t hold up a picture of Oprah [Winfrey] and say, ‘She’s fat! Good night!’”

Ensuring her feminist credentials, Griffin enlisted “Girls” creator Lena Dunham to help her write the exit statement she posted on Twitter.

Her departure follows that of Kelly Osbourne, who announced she was leaving in February, not long after the show dealt with backlash regarding Giuliana Rancic’s comments that Zendaya Coleman’s dreadlocks at the Oscars looked like they smelled like “weed.”

Rancic and co-host Brad Goreski are slated to appear on the next “Fashion Police” episode, which is airing March 30.

Unlike San Francisco’s Irish denizens, the lord mayor of Dublin says, Ireland’s St. Patrick’s Day plans don’t involve emerald brew.

“It is a very sober event, and it should be a sober day,” Christy Burke told Sean Adams, a reporter for Pennsylvania’s Patriot-News.

The Dublin official said, “This lord mayor certainly doesn’t promote the Guinness and alcohol consumption.”

The lord mayor, whose duties are primarily ceremonial, was in the South Bay this month, celebrating Dublin’s sister-city bond with San Jose. At March 6 at a Spirit of Ireland Awards luncheon, he presented San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo with a soccer jersey.
