Kamala Harris endorses George Gascón for district attorney via Facebook, Twitter

Attorney General Kamala Harris said District Attorney George Gascón is the best option for holding her former office. She endorsed Gascón over Facebook and Twitter Thursday, saying his “his experience, ability, and reforms will modernize and enhance the DA’s office.”

The endorsement comes a day after Gascón held a meet and greet with some of The City’s most respected legal minds. Among those who hosted the Wednesday night fundraiser at the Keker & Van Nest legal office fundraiser were:

  • Jon Keker, the Kamala Harris confidant and campaign donor who runs one of the most well-respected lawfirms in town
  • Cristina Arguedas, the former Barry Bonds attorney and partner of former state Sen. Carole Migden (Migden has endorsed Gascón’s opponent, Sharmin Bock, in the race, which could make for some heated debate at the kitchen table)
  • Joe Cotchett, a trial lawyer, Democratic fundraiser and longtime Gavin Newsom business partner
  • Jeremiah Hallisey, another Newsom family friend, fundraiser and trial lawyer
  • Louise Renne, the former city attorney who now heads the Public Law Group

Of course, don’t count out his opponents, David Onek and Bock, who are lining up their own support in the race.
