Kal Penn: Ciao to all that

We can still be friends, though, right?

Yeah, working in government isn't really like the movies -- at all. And so off goes Kalpen Modi, the Obama administration's in-house movie star, back to Hollywood and out of the Eisenhower Building. ABC News reports:

Kal Penn, best known as the latter half of stoner duo "Harold and Kumar," is reportedly leaving his White House post as associate director of public engagement to make a return to the Silver Screen.

The move was first reported by Entertainment Weekly but was not immediately confirmed by White House officials.  Press secretary Robert Gibbs said he hadn’t heard about the departure.  The Lavin Agency, which represents Penn, declined to comment.

Apparently, he's ditching us to go work on a "Harold and Kumar" Christmas-themed movie. Kal Penn, as he's known professionally, campaigned for Obama and came to work in the administration shortly after the election. He lives in Beltway's DC nabe and was frequently spotted at the bars nearby, but we never saw him.

We do think there's a job in Rahm's office for Jennifer Aniston, if she's interested.
