Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's gala funds research

JDRF Hope Gala: On April 16 at the Ritz-Carlton, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation held its annual fundraiser featuring news anchor Dana King as mistress of ceremonies. David O’Reilly, former CEO of Chevron Corp., and his wife Joan, a retired nurse, were honored for their contributions to the organization and its goal to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

“Romanza de Romero”: Legendary guitarist Pepe Romero was honored April 14 at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s annual benefit, which raised more than $200,000 for educational programs. The gala also featured performances by the Pacific Guitar Ensemble, students and faculty, and Romero himself.  Lisa Mirza Grotts chaired the event.

‘An Evening with Carolina Herrera’: In honor of the orchestra’s upcoming centennial season, the San Francisco League of the San Francisco Symphony — in partnership with Neiman Marcus — presented a rare show of music and fall fashions by internationally acclaimed clothing designer Carolina Herrera, who was in attendance.
