It's not a terrorist attack, just cops training at BART station

Local and federal authorities are conducting emergency training exercises at the Millbrae BART station on Thursday, a BART spokesman said.

Officers from BART police, the FBI and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office are participating in the joint exercise, designed to coordinate response tactics in the event of a public safety emergency on a train, spokesman Jim Allison said.

"It's any kind of situation that would involve law enforcement needing to access a passenger train," Allison said.

Officers will be wearing full SWAT gear for parts of the exercise and will use an out-of-service train and platform at the Millbrae BART station, located at 200 N. Rollins Road.

The training, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., will check the common operability of communications systems and SWAT team tactics during a transit system emergency, Allison said.

The operation will not affect normal BART schedules.
