Is Christina ‘spiraling’ amid beau’s DUI bust?

There have been rumblings for some time that Christina Aguilera is headed down a bad path — and those rumblings are likely to get a lot louder. The “Dirrty” singer was taken into custody by police in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, after beau Matt Rutler was busted for DUI — and cops determined the “extremely intoxicated” Xtina was in no condition to get herself home.

Christina was arrested for public intoxication, but was released once she could “safely take care of herself,” law enforcement sources told TMZ, and she reportedly will not be prosecuted.

The pop star has appeared to be floundering since her marriage to Jordan Bratman ended and her album “Bionic” flopped. (We won’t even mention her film debut in “Burlesque” — oops, too late.) She recently earned some bad press for allegedly crashing actor Jeremy Renner’s birthday party … then passing out in his bed. And high-profile performances at the Super Bowl and the Grammys, during which she flubbed lyrics and tripped onstage respectively, didn’t do her image any favors.

“Her friends are fed up,” a source confided to Us magazine. “She’s really spiraling. I would be shocked if she’s not in rehab in the next month or two.”

Christina, honey, you’re an amazing talent who’s gone through a rough year personally and professionally. If you make the effort to get back on track, we’re sure fans will forgive and forget your recent missteps.

Negative Energy

And now, your daily Cuckoo Things Charlie Sheen Has Said and Done Recently update.

Already this week, the actor has delivered over-the-top interviews to TMZ and CNN, parted ways with his long-suffering publicist (who quit and then was summarily “fired” by Charlie), and called reports that John Stamos might replace him on “Two and a Half Men” a “tragic joke.” Oh yeah, and he announced his legal fight against CBS and Warner Bros. for the millions he would have received for eight scrapped episodes of the show.

And while skeptics speculate that he couldn’t possibly have “cured” his drug addiction with his mind, as he claims, a triumphant Charlie learned Monday that he had passed blood and urine drug tests. “Looks like their printer got stuck on one word — negative, negative, negative,” he crowed to Radar Online upon examining a copy of the report, which showed the results of testing for 10 different substances.

Asked whether he had scrambled to get clean in the 72 hours leading up to the test, the actor scoffed, “No, that’s stupid because those things [drugs] linger. The only way to beat a drug test is to not have drugs in your body. It’s not rocket science.”

Funny, we would have assumed that Charlie has mastered rocket science using the powers of his mind.

Restroom Run-In

One of the downsides of being a member of the celebrity elite: There’s always a chance you’ll bump into your equally famous ex at an Oscars after-party. (Don’t you just hate when that happens?) Such was the case with Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal, who had an impromptu reunion at the storied Vanity Fair magazine bash Sunday night.

The country singer and the actor parted ways over the holidays after a few months of cross-country coffee-shop meet-ups. (Taylor may well have moved on — she was spotted last week cozying up to “Glee” star Chord Overstreet at an L.A. Kings hockey game.)

“It seemed like they were catching up,” observed the source, “sorting something out.”

Maybe he left his travel coffee mug at her place?
