IPhone app for parking in San Francisco to be unveiled

Parking in San Francisco: There will be an app for that.

Mayor Ed Lee, San Francisco Board of Supervisors President David Chiu and various officials from the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency will hold a press conference Thursday to announce the launch of The City’s new parking data program.

As part of SFpark, a nationally lauded series of pilot programs aimed at reducing traffic congestion, the SFMTA will begin collecting and dispensing real-time parking information to San Francisco motorists.

At 11 a.m. Thursday in City Hall’s North Light Court, the SFMTA will unveil an SFpark iPhone app that will provide motorists with access to parking meters pricing rates and availability.
