Infielder Eric Sogard powers A’s offense in spring victory 

Infielder Eric Sogard continued his hot spring for the A’s by belting a three-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning of a spring game against the Kansas City Royals to take the lead for good in a 10-8 victory Sunday.

Sogard, who is vying for the everyday third base job, is hitting .370 in Cactus League play with three doubles and six RBIs.

The A’s Kila Ka’aihue had a two-run homer against his former team, and Cuban defector Yoenis Cespedes was hitless in three at-bats after homering in his first game Saturday.

Tommy Milone, who started for Oakland, gave up two runs and four hits in 3²?³ innings of work.

Eric Hosmer had a home run, a double and four RBIs for the Royals.

The A’s optioned left-handed pitcher Sean Doolittle and outfielder Jermaine Mitchell to Triple-A Sacramento. ...  The A’s reassigned right-handed pitchers Edgar Gonzalez, Sonny Gray, Jim Miller and Merkin Valdez; left-handed pitcher Fabio Castro; catcher Max Stassi; and outfielders Michael Choice, Grant Green, Cedric Hunter and Jason Pridie to minor league camp.
