Huntsman Gets High Profile Endorsement - From Harry Reid

Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman's presidential candidacy is just hours old but he's already picked up a Democratic endorsement.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said if he had to choose between the two Mormon Republican candidates running for president, he'd pick Jon Huntsman.

Reid, who is also Mormon, made the choice in response to a question asked by a reporter at his weekly news conference, and he used the occasion to rip into the Republican field's frontrunner and fellow Mormon Mitt Romney.

Reid said Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, "doesn't know who he is," because he has waffled on important issues like abortion and health care.

Reid's denouncement of Romney was extensive.

"He was for gay marriage when he was governor and now he's against it," Reid said. "He was for abortion when he was governor. Now he's against it'

"On healthcare," Reid continued. "We modeled our bill to a large degree about what he did in Massachusetts. Now he's trying to run from that. If someone doesn't know who they are, they shouldn't be president of the United States."

Huntsman announced his bid for the GOP nomination in New Jersey Tuesday and pledged to conduct his campaign with civility toward his opponents.
