Hundreds still without power in Chinatown

Power has been restored this afternoon to all but 850 customers in San Francisco's Chinatown district, according to a Pacific Gas and Electric Co. spokesman.

PG&E crews are still working to restore power to customers in the 700 block of Front Street and in the 200 block of Jackson Street, according to PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi.

Investigators are blaming the outage on an underground equipment failure that took place at Pacific and Battery streets at 11:04 a.m.

Crews are hoping to have power restored to the remaining affected customers by 3 p.m., Guidi said.
