How do we love thee, open spaces? Let us count the ways

The Neighborhood Parks Council is asking all valentine-less park lovers – or if you have a valentine that’s cool, too – to write a love letter to your favorite park and share it on Valentine’s Day in Dolores Park.

It’s the council’s way of subduing the bludgeons of a dwindling budget with kindness.

They’ll provide you with free refreshments between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and then publish your prose on their Web site.

You can also e-mail your submissions to loveletters@sfnpc.org.

Here are the companies you can thank for the free grub: BiRite Market, Dolores Park Café, Ixia flowers, Bell and Trunk Flowers, Vbkirk Flowers, Polished Lounge and Your Printer.

And here’s a haiku to get the creative juices flowing:

It’s ok to be cliché
