House chairman lets in some sunlight on transportation earmarks 

Kudos to Rep. Jim Oberstar, D-Minn., chairman of the House Transportation Committee — an epicenter of pork — for releasing a transportation earmark database (this is an Excel document).

Taxpayers for Common Sense puts this in context:

In 2005, this very same committee foisted the infamous Bridge to Nowhere earmark on the American taxpayer. Now, the committee is at the forefront of earmark transparency and accountability.
