Homeless man sleeping in Lower Nob Hill alley assaulted, robbed of clothes

A homeless man who was sleeping in a Lower Nob Hill alley was held down, punched and robbed of his clothes Tuesday night, Sgt. Monica Macdonald said.

The 26-year-old victim was sleeping on Fern Street between Polk and Larkin streets about 11:20 p.m. when three men and one woman approached him, Macdonald said. One of the suspects held the victim down while the others punched him.

The group then reportedly took the victim’s leather jacket, his pants and two watches.

The victim was unable to provide a detailed description of the suspects except that they were all wearing dark clothing.

He sustained a laceration to his nose and pain to his collar bone. He was hospitalized, but his injuries were not life-threatening, Macdonald said.
