Holiday safety plans to be discussed

While you’re stocking up on champagne and looking up the lyrics to “Auld Lang Syne,” San Francisco’s Police Department, Fire Department and public transit agencies have been conspiring to keep The City safe and moving for the New Year’s holiday.

At 9 a.m. Tuesday, police Chief George Gascon will host a news conference with officers from the Fire Department, BART and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency to “outline police policy and plans for New Year’s Eve.”

“We want everyone to have a safe and pleasant New Year’s Eve, and we’ll be talking about our plans to provide that for the citizens of San Francisco and our guests,” Sgt. Wilfred Williams said.
