Hit-and-run driver plows into bicycle, injures two men 

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO — An 18-year-old South San Francisco baker was injured in a hit-and-run accident at Spruce Avenue and Commercial Avenue Monday as he rode his bike with a passenger on the back.

The passenger suffered only a scrape on the leg, but bicyclist Nefdali Hernandez was treated at San Francisco General Hospital. Police said he suffered no fractures.

The suspect vehicle in the 8:20 p.m., hit-and-run is an older model, gray 4-door Honda Accord last seen driving east on Commercial Avenue, according to police.

This is the 29th felony hit-and-run since April 2005 in South San Francisco and the 14th this year, Police Sgt. Paul Ritter said. Of the 29 incidents, three have been fatal. Ritter said.

The South San Francisco Police Chief said people usually flee for reasons such as drunkenness.
