Highway 1 traffic control in Pacifica suspended after wall construction delayed

Roadwork planned to affect a portion of state Highway 1 in Pacifica throughout this week has been suspended, Caltrans officials said Monday.

Crews were scheduled to build a concrete wall, which would have left traffic down to one lane on the highway about a half-mile south of Linda Mar Avenue everyday this week. The area has been prone to rockslides, according to Caltrans.

Caltrans geologists and engineers discovered deterioration of the hillside and decided the project could not begin and additional work would be required to build the rockslide wall, officials said.

Caltrans said they would notify the public when the project will restart.
