Here's a recipient who didn't know his company supposedly got two stimulus contracts

What do you do when an investigative journalist calls to ask you about the two economic stimulus contracts that says were awarded to your company? Together the two contracts are worth more than $210,000, according to, but you didn't know your company had received them... because it didn't.

If you are Tim Wiest, Lancs Industries president, in Kirkland, Washington, you start doing whatever you can to correct the government's records. And if you are Scott St. Clair, the investigative journalist in this latest episode of $18 million folly that is, you start reporting and posting.

You can read all of St. Clair's report here. He is one of a growing network of investigative journalists associated with the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity. Franklin has investigative journalists working now in about half of the states and they are breaking all kinds of interesting, state and locally focused stories.
