Heather Nelson Brame writes test for other social workers

The social worker with an office in Hayes Valley has been chosen to become a test question writer for the Association of Social Work Board’s licensing examinations used in the United States and Canada. Brame is also an assistant professor in the UC San Francisco Psychiatry Department.

Why did you want to be a test question writer? This is a really unique opportunity to support my colleagues and the profession. I really think this will help me be a better therapist.

How do you feel about being selected to do this? I feel very honored. I like to be challenged and to have opportunities to become a better therapist. It is hard work, but its fun at the same time.

What do your colleagues think about this? My colleagues seem impressed by my interest. They appreciate that California is involved by sending me as a representative.

What makes you a good fit for this opportunity? I am a critical thinker. I can think outside the box and see the big picture. This shows that the people who write these questions are not detached administrators like some people might think.
