Hearing on city taking over Barneys’ basement

A public hearing on The City taking over the high-end retail store’s basement area at Barneys for the Central Subway project will be held at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors hearing. The City notified Barneys via letter Nov. 16 of its intent to repossess the below-ground space, which the store has objected to. Last week, the mayor met with store officials to try to resolve the issue. Tuesday’s hearing is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
