Harvey Weinstein extortionist sentenced to 7 years in prison

A man convicted of extorting Miramax honcho Harvey Weinstein and others has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

Deadline reports that Vivek Shah threatened to kill members of the movie mogul’s family if he didn’t wire $4 million into Shah’s offshore account. In total, the out-of-work actor tried to extort $122 million.

Shah’s scheme was apparently “elaborate,” including myriad fake IDs, websites and U.S. Postal Service accounts that led the feds on quite a chase. Sounds like a good movie.
