Hamas leader condemns U.S. for killing Osama bin Laden

While most people in the world were celebrating the death of Sept. 11 terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden, Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas was condemning the United States for the action.

Haniyeh told reporters that the killing of bin Laden was "the continuation of the American oppression and shedding of blood of Muslims and Arabs," the Associated News reports

Last month, the Palestinian Authority decided to join forces with Hamas, making Haniyeh one of Israel's so-called "peace partners."
His comments on bin Laden shouldn't come as a surprise. Palestinians celebrated on the streets and handed out candy on Sept. 11, and on that day, Haniyeh was quoted by AFP as saying, “Washington must seriously revise its policies in the world.”
