Half Moon Bay man pleads not guilty to assault, burglary charges after bad LSD trip

A man arrested in Half Moon Bay in January on charges of assault, burglary, vandalism and resisting arrest after a bad LSD trip pleaded not guilty Friday, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

Dominic Joseph Pintarelli, 19, of Half Moon Bay is alleged to have taken LSD at a friend's house before roaming the streets of the Ocean Colony residential area completely naked, Wagstaffe said. He is also alleged to have been yelling and screaming at people on the streets.

A man asked Pintarelli if he needed any help and Pintarelli is alleged to have attacked the man, punching him numerous times all over his body, Wagstaffe said.

The man retreated back to his home and Pintarelli reportedly followed him and tried to break the man's door down by repeatedly slamming his body against it.

The victim opened the door and reportedly punched Pintarelli to get him away from his home, Wagstaffe said. Pintarelli reportedly fractured his knuckles trying to break down the door.

Sheriff's deputies arrived and had to use a stun gun twice on Pintarelli to subdue him, Wagstaffe said.

When the LSD wore off, Pintarelli reportedly began crying and claimed to remember very little of what he had done, Wagstaffe said.

Pintarelli pleaded not guilty to the charges Friday and his next hearing is scheduled for April 1, Wagstaffe said. He is out of custody on $50,000 bail.
