Guster at Fillmore sans Pisapia

And a quick note to the devout following of Guster — don’t look for multi-instrumentalist bandmember Joe Pisapia onstage with them at The Fillmore on Friday, Jan. 21. He’s being replaced this tour by Luke Reynolds from Blue Merle.

But there’s a very good reason.

After a disastrous experience tracking the latest Guster set “Easy Wonderful” in New York with David Kahne, the group eventually walked out on the sessions and instead handed the production reins to the Nashville-based Pisapia.

“Then Joe went and built a studio in his back yard and said ‘Let’s do it here’,” says Guster skin-slapper Brian Rosenworcel. “But Luke is playing as the fourth Guster now, because Joe is touring with k.d. lang this year. In the aforementioned back yard studio, Joe had k.d. come over and they wrote and recorded an entire album together. And he’s just a huge k.d. lang fan, so it was like a dream come true for him.”
