ART WORK: The works of Beatrice Wood

EXPERT: Charles Linder, LINCART

WHERE CAN YOU SEE IT: LINCART, 1632 C Market St., San Francisco

WHY SHOULD YOU SEE IT: "Our upcoming show in November at LINCART features DaDa legend, Beatrice Wood, and highlights great examples of her ceramic and drawing work. I never liked ceramics, per se, but I became fascinated with Beatrice’s legend and the stories I heard about her lifestyle. Recently, I purchased several works of hers from a friend of the artist. The experience was kind of an epiphany. When the works came out of the valise, I was absolutely dumbfounded by their beauty and had to buy them immediately.

FAVORITE WORK IN THE WHOLE WORLD: "I recently helped a friend of the gallery install an incredible new art piece in his apartment by the New York artist, Leo Villareal. The piece is simply three, approximately eight-foot-long light tubes which hang horizontally on the wall. A small computer sits on the floor beneath the piece and randomly generates bursts and flows of colored light that shudder back and forth across the wall. The piece is so dreamy ... it’s difficult to describe the experience of being in front of the piece: WOW!"
