Gray-haired woman robs San Mateo bank 

Police are searching today for a woman in her late 40s to early 50s who robbed a Wells Fargo Bank in San Mateo Tuesday afternoon.

Around 2:15 p.m. the suspect walked into a bank in the unit block of 17th Avenue and handed a note to the teller demanding money. The teller complied and the suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian woman around 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing around 110 pounds, police reported. She has gray hair and waswearing glasses, a charcoal colored coat and a gray beanie with a light colored circular stripe around the brim.

Witnesses reported seeing her walking northbound through a Safeway parking lot at the intersection of 17th Avenue and S. El Camino Real after the robbery. No one was injured in the incident.
