Grass fire near Interstate 280 off ramp disrupts traffic

A grass fire near the Crystal Springs Road off ramp on Interstate 280 is extinguished, but two lanes remain closed as fire departments monitor the possibility of another blaze.

The three small fires, which stretched about a quarter-mile along the highway, were apparently started by a car, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The first reports were received around 10:45 a.m. closed the off ramp in San Bruno.

The blazes were extinguished and the off ramp reopened by 11:20 a.m., CHP Officer Art Montiel said, but the two right lanes will remained closed until 3 p.m. to allow crews to monitor the area and prevent any possibility of new flames.
