GOP candidates win despite heavy outside group spending

Republicans prevailed in all five of the most expensive House races in terms of spending by outside groups, despite the fact that Democrats and their allies outspent Republican and conservative groups in all five.

Former Rep. Tim Walberg, R-Mich, and Rep.-elects Dave Schweickert, R-Ariz, Robert Hurt, R-Va., Joe Heck, R-Nev., Jim Renacci, R-Ohio, survived an onslaught from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, unions, and environmental groups.

Outside groups actuallly spent more on the Walberg seat (MI-7) than they did on the Florida, New Hampshire or Kentucky Senate races.
