Good hand dealt for boys club 

On Wednesday at the Wilkes Bashford store, 11-time World Series of Poker Champion Phil Hellmuth and Wilkes Bashford co-hosted a benefit for the Omega Boys Club, an organization serving youngsters.

Participants played poker with VIPs including football Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown and blackjack expert Jeff Ma.

Art exhibit promotes heart health

An exhibition of paintings and glass works opened with an evening reception at Gump’s on Wednesday. Partial proceeds from the event go to the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign, which is dedicated to fighting heart disease in women.

Athleta on good footing in city

Athleta, the women’s activewear company, hosted an opening reception for friends and invited customers at its first Bay Area outlet Wednesday. The 5,000-square-foot, two-level showroom is located at 2226 Fillmore St. in San Francisco.
