Giants’ field of dreams

Quaint, initimate and hearkening back to classic ballparks of the past, Scottsdale Stadium is located on 7408 East Osborn Road, in the middle of Scottsdale’s downtown, just west of Highway 101 and east of the city’s Chapparal Park.

Opened: March 6, 1992

Turf: Natural grass

Dimensions: Left field, 360 ft.; center field, 430 ft.; right field, 360 ft.

Capacity: Up to 10,500 people, with an 8,500 capacity in fixed stadium seats and an additional 2,000 on the lawn surrounding the field

Originally built: 1956 — it served as the spring training base for a number of teams, including the Red Sox, Cubs and the A’s, before it was rebuilt

Who plays there now? Just the Giants

Who designed it? The same architectural firm that created Camden Yards, Baltimore’s highly celebrated home stadium, which inspired a wave of nostalgic stadium design (including the Giants’ regular season home, now called AT&T Park)

Unique features: Framed antique baseball gloves and sidewalk bricks in the shapes of home plate
