Giants dump two coaches

Hitting coach Joe Lefebvre and first base coach Willie Upshaw will not keep those jobs with the Giants next season, general manager Brian Sabean announced Tuesday.

Both will be offered other jobs within the organization.

The rest of manager Bruce Bochy's staff will return: Bench coach Ron Wotus, pitching coach Dave Righetti, bullpen coach Mark Gardner and bullpen catcher Bill Hayes.

"Bruce and I have met about our coaching staff and after lengthy conversations, we have decided that there need to be some changes but not wholesale changes," Sabean said in a statement released by the team. "I want to thank both Joe and Willie for their efforts here with the Giants."

The Giants finished with a .254 batting average, which was 27th in baseball, ahead of only the San Diego Padres (.251), Arizona Diamondbacks (.250) and Chicago White Sox (.246).
