Get schooled on School Loop

The San Francisco Unified School District is holding drop-in training sessions on most Wednesdays throughout the school year to help teachers and parents learn how to use School Loop, the district’s new online management system

The district signed a $233,000 contract with the online company at the start of the year to encourage every teacher, parent and student to communicate about homework, truancy and other classroom behavior via the Internet program.

However there has been growing concern from school officials, teachers and parents that the system is not being put to good use because not enough people have access to it or know how to use it.

In an effort to solve the problem, the district is holding its training sessions at 2 p.m. on Wednesdays on the second floor of 601 McAllister Street.
