Georgian woman inadvertently cuts off internet service to Armenia

Internet service was shut down across much of Armenia for nearly 12 hours when a 75-year-old Georgian grandmother scavenging for scrap metal used a shovel to cut the main fiber-optic cable connecting the neighboring countries. She was arrested for damaging property and could face three years in prison if convicted.  “I cannot understand how this lady managed to find and damage the cable,” said a spokesman for the Georgian railway network, which owns the cable.
