Gathering space planned for Chinese-Americans from Dung Fong region

A new gathering place and cultural arts center could open for newcomers and longtime descendants of the Dung Fong region of southeastern China in the Mission Terrace neighborhood.

Wilson Ng applied for city permits needed to open the center in a small space at 919 Ocean Avenue, which is near Mission Street.

Elders will meet at the center to plan celebrations, children’s activities will be provided and Internet access will help community members keep in touch with family and friends, according to Ng.
