Gascon takes Taser debate to the public

A week after delaying a procedural vote on equipping SFPD officers with Tasers because some Police Commission members had issues with public input, police Chief George Gascon is making sure the public knows his side of the story.

Gascón is holding a press conference Wednesday morning to present “the advantages of equipping San Francisco Police Department officers with Conducted Energy Devices (CEDs), popularly known as Tasers.”

The next vote isn’t expected for another week, when commissioners hope to hear from the yet-to-be-heard opposition.
