Gas station robbed at gunpoint

A gas station in the 500 block of South Van Ness Avenue was robbed at gunpoint around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The brazen miscreant walked up to the register with a gun and demanded cash, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said. The victim gave the suspect — who police describe as a black male, 40 to 50 years old — an undisclosed amount of money and the scoundrel fled on foot. The victim was not injured, police said.

The incident is the second robbery of a gas station in that area in less than two weeks.
