Galileo student hospitalized after stabbing

A 12th-grade student was stabbed this morning near Galileo High School while standing on the corner of Van Ness Avenue and Bay Street in the Marina neighborhood of San Francisco, according to police Sgt. Neville Gittens.

The male student was talking on his cell phone at about 9:00 a.m. when a male and a female approached him, Gittens said. The three engaged in a verbal altercation when the male suspect cut the student on the forehead, according to Gittens.

The two suspects fled before police arrived.

The victim, whose age is unknown, was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Gittens said.
