Fundraiser presents Asian flavor with heart

Every year, San Francisco’s active Asian Chefs Association puts on a lunch and dinner for 2,500 at Glide Memorial Church, assisted by students from the California Culinary Academy and volunteers.

The group also mounts a food drive for homeless and low-income families and youth and presents a $1,500 scholarship to a low-income student attending the California Culinary Academy.

To raise funds for this year’s holiday events, the Asian Chefs are throwing a grand fundraiser at the California Culinary Academy, 350 Rhode Island St. in San Francisco on Sunday starting with a seminar, cooking demonstrations and a light tasting from 4 to 6 p.m. ($50), followed by a five-course sit-down dinner ($100). Sign up for both for $135. (I reported on some of these dedicated and
fun-loving chefs at the Taiwan International Culinary Competition, where they took the silver medal — not the bronze).

For this event, featured chefs come from Sushi Ran, Heaven’s Dog, NAMU, Hotel Nikko, Poleng Lounge, Roy’s, Ana Mandara, Chef Chu’s, the CCA, South Sea Seafood Village and Three Seasons. Purchase tickets online at www.acasf.com.
