Friday is National Walk to Work Day

Commuters are being asked to leave their cars and, well, every other mode of transportation, to get back to basics and walk to work on Friday.

April 6 is National Walk to Work Day, an event that takes place every year on the first Friday of April.

Walk SF, a local pedestrian advocacy organization, is encouraging workers to Tweet or post to Facebook their experiences walking to their jobs. For every online post that mentions Walk to Work, GJEL, a local law firm, will donate $25 to Walk SF. Commuters who participate in the plan will get a chance to win a $50 gift certificate from Sports Basement and a $150 gift plan from San Francisco Acupuncture.

More details about the plan can be found online at the Walk SF’s website.
