Former sheriff found unharmed 

An 85-year-old former Contra Costa County sheriff who went missing Monday on a construction site on Wild Horse Road in Antioch was found, according to Capt. Allan Cantando.

HarryRamsay, who suffers from mild dementia and other medical conditions, was found about 8:30 a.m. with no apparent injuries, Cantando said. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution before being released to family, according to Cantando.

The superintendent of the construction site who recognized the missing man called police, Cantando said.

Ramsay was last seen about 1 p.m. Monday in the 3400 block of Serpentine Drive in Antioch, according to police.

Police asked Antioch residents for help finding Ramsay, but despite help from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team, helicopter and K9 searches, Ramsay was not found Monday night, according to police.

Ramsay, a former member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, worked for the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in various positions for more than 30 years, according to the sheriff’s office. He was also the county’s second deputy sheriff to graduate from the Federal Bureau of Investigation Academy, according to the sheriff’s office.
