Former Fed chair to be honored at Stanford 

Former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker will be honored by the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. Volcker, who is chairman of President Barack Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board, will be the first recipient of the SIEPR Prize for Contributions to Economic Policy on May 18 in a private ceremony. His time as Fed chair was punctuated by raising short-term interest rates in to record levels in the 1980s.
