Several dozen supporters of CARES - Community Action to Restore Equity and Stability, a program aimed at modifying bad loans - gathered at City Hall on Tuesday for a rally and march. The activists and borrowers affected by predatory lending and the foreclosure crisis even stormed the Legislative Chamber while the Board of Supervisors held its weekly meeting. They demanded that supervisors take action by joining the housing preservation program to save hundreds of homes located primarily in black and Latino neighborhoods. Sheriff's deputies then escorted the demonstrators out of the meeting.
