Food vendors coming to city parks

Residents might soon be able to get a cup of Blue Bottle Coffee at Dolores Park. The City is working with a few food vendors to permanently operate concessions in parks throughout San Francisco.

Pending final approval from the Parks and Recreation Commission next month, three food carts are expecting to open shop at Dolores Park and at Justin Herman Plaza, said Caleb Zigas, director of operations for La Cocina, an incubator for food business.

La Cocina is one of the businesses that is currently negotiating a one-year lease with The City to operate a food cart seven days a week at the parks. Blue Bottle Coffee and Let’s Be Frank Hot Dogs are also looking to open food carts, Zigas said.

“It’s a great place for people to come and share food,” Zigas said.
