Five mayoral candidates to outline plans for Muni at riders union meeting tonight

Five mayoral candidates will present their plans to improve Muni service at a meeting tonight for public transit riders.

The San Francisco Transit Riders Union, a public transportation advocacy organization, will host candidates Phil Ting, David Chiu, John Avalos, Tony Hall and Terry Baum at the Park Branch Library. Each candidate will be asked to present their transit policies at the meeting, which is slated to take place at 6 p.m. at the library on 1833 Page St.

The other candidates running in the crowded mayoral field (including current Mayor Ed Lee) have not replied to the union’s request to meet, although state Sen. Leland Yee is set to address the group at its next scheduled meeting in September.
