Fire crews battle blaze at 85-unit Daly City apartment building

Residents at an 85-unit apartment building in Daly City had to temporarily leave their homes this morning when a two-alarm fire broke out in the downstairs parking garage, according to fire officials.

The flames were reported at 4:52 a.m. at 617 A St., near the border of Daly City and Colma, North County Fire Authority spokeswoman Angelina Ciucci said.

Approximately 35 firefighters battled the blaze and had the flames controlled by 5:15 a.m., according to Ciucci.

Because the building has only one electrical meter power was shut off while fire crews cleaned the area, according to Ciucci.

The cause of the fire in the four-story building remains under investigation, Ciucci said.

No injuries were reported.
